BRIMAC KENNEL
I have owned, trained, hunted and enjoyed the companionship of Golden Retrievers since 1975. I am a small non-commercial breeder of purebred, registered Golden Retrievers. BRIMAC Goldens are happy, athletic, and tractable. They are unfailing in their devotion and loyalty. Puppies are sold with a 2 year "companion" guarantee, are registered with the Canadian Kennel Club, are wormed, micro-chipped and have their first vaccinations. They are examined by our veterinarian prior to their departure to their new homes.
BRIMAC kennel is committed to breeding Goldens that are true to their heritage and still exhibit the abilities for which they were initially bred. BRIMAC's breeding program strives for good health, good structure, intelligence, good temperament, confidence and trainability. BRIMAC dogs tend to bear a close resemblance to the original Golden Retrievers brought to Vancouver Island in the 1920's. Golden Retrievers such as Canadian and American champion Speedwell Pluto. BRIMAC Goldens resemble these original field Goldens more so than the present heavily boned, heavily coated light (cream ) coloured Golden popular in the conformation (show) rings of present times.
I do all a breeder can to prevent genetic abnormalities passing from my breeding females and males to their offspring. All dogs used for breeding are certified by Veterinarian Specialists to be free of heritable defects such as, hip and elbow dysplasia, eye abnormalities such as cataracts, P.R.A., heart abnormalities and skin abnormality ichyiosis. This does not, however, provide a guarantee that the offspring will not exhibit any of these defects, as it is not known for certain how genetic combinations carried by the dam and sire may be expressed in their offspring. However, health clearances of the Sire and Dam is the best a breeder can do to help reduce the occurrence of these inheritable problems.
I am a "Life Member" of the CKC, a past president of the Niagara Retriever Training Club and presently a member of the Long Point Retriever Training Club. I have owned, trained, hunted and competed with Golden Retrievers since purchasing my first Golden Male, Hargold's Duffy in 1975. I have competed in Obedience Trials, Field Trials and Hunt Tests throughout the years to the present. I have titled dogs in both Obedience Trials and Hunt Tests. I am Qualified to judge CKC Hunt Tests and in the past, have judged licensed CKC Field Trials from Junior to the Open All Age level. My competition and judging experience helps me evaluate my dogs for breeding purposes. Ensuring breeding stock have the desirable and necessary characteristics in both the Sire and Dam that one would want in their offspring. All the necessary physical and mental attributes such as: sound structure, good temperament, biddability (desire to please), trainability (intelligence) that contribute to their field capabilities are the same qualities we desire in a family companion dog. A person/family does not have to hunt or compete in a dog activity to truly enjoy these qualities you will have in a BRIMAC Golden Retriever.
